Chaturti tithi – time for spiritual purification, for inner and outer detox. When Sun and Moon form the golden angle on the sky, and when universe inspires us to introspect and analyse, which obstacles are standing on our path towards complete alignment with the Divine.
Bherunda Devi is the first “strict” form of the Divine Mother and She rules the first Rikta tithi or “empty” lunar day, which is connected to element of water and the purifying energy of moksha. Rikta tithis are considered auspicious only for activities related to purification, detox, demolition, destruction, cleaning and removal. Yet, even though they do not support us in any other activites on material level, they do help us a lot in our spiritual development and purification of our mind.

Within waking state of consciousness, Chaturti tithi stands for turiya or spiritually awakened state of bliss, when we can consciously perceive the inner light. It is also the tithi during which our mental activity is at its peak. Swami Sivananda explained, that this is why we worship Ganesha on Chaturti, as He removes all the obstacles that may appear on our spiritual path – and majority of those obstacles are created by nothing else but our mind itself.

On Chaturti tithi, Bherunda Devi is inspiring us to bring more attention to all those spheres of our life, where energy is clogged and starts to spoil; where obstacles are dwelling or where the energy became “dirty”. The element connected with this lunar day is water, while the element of Mercury, co-ruling this tithi along with Goddess Bherunda, is earth. When earth and water come together, the earth becomes very damp and can start to spoil easily, turning into poison, instead of being fertile. Similarly, when our energy is clogged somewhere, and, especially, if we carry lot of negative emotions within, like resentment, bitterness or disgust, and when we don’t do anything to actually purify them, they soon start to spoil and poison our inner space. Bherunda Devi is the Goddess, who controls all the poisons – those which contaminate the body, and those that contaminate the mind. She inspires us to let go of all of them and allow them to emerge on the surface of our consciousness, so She can help us in removing them.

Chaturti Tithi In-depth

Discover the secrets of Chaturti tithi in this almost 3 hours long session with several study cases and detailed knowledge of the symbolism and secrets of this lunar day and its deities. Along with the access to course recording you will also receive a chapter from my ebook “Journey with the Moon”, dedicated to Bherunda, Lunar Goddess of Chaturti tithi, along several charts for self-study.
1. Uncover unknown secrets of Chaturti tithi
I have dedicated a big part of my life to research of the Vedic lunar phases and I can honestly say that you will most likely not find such detailed knowledge on this topic anywhere else. On this course you will learn not only about the superficial symbolism of Chaturti tithi and its presiding Goddess, Bherunda, but also some of its deep secrets.

2. Understand the spiritual aspect
Spiritual approach to tithis or Vedic lunar phases is what makes my tithi classes unique and very different from others. I have spent a lot of time connecting with the Goddesses of the lunar phases, meditating with them and trying to learn from their wisdom. I have learnt that they teach us a lot about the evolution of our own consciousness. People who resonate with my classes are frequently already on spiritual path or are yoga or meditation practitioners.
3. Learn how to apply your knowledge
I believe that knowledge gains its real value only once we learn how to apply it. It is not enough just to understand, how the tithi functions in theory. You want to be able also to use this knowledge in your everyday life, as well as in your chart readings, too, don’t you? Each session of our classes completes with a detailed analysis of chosen study cases, as well as analyses the influence of each lunar day in our everyday life, activities that it supports and remedies that help us to heal it.

Fragment from "Journey with the Moon" ebook

As Bherunda Devi rules Chaturti tithi along with Mercury, She represents our intellect being very active and “pregnant” with many ideas. When a woman is pregnant or when her body is simply big, she would move much slower. Similarly, when intellect is at its peak, very often the body naturally becomes slower or even more lazy and tamasic. Shadow side of goddess Bherunda is tamas, inertia and stagnation on physical level. This is why very often people born on Chaturti tithi have very powerful and speedy intellect, but very weak or slow body. Some sort of tamasic energy dwells in their body, even if their mind is very bright and sattwic. They also tend to be overly sensitive to many things, especially sounds or dirt. Due to the hightened sensitivity they usually run away from crowded places and their inner energy is truly regenerated only when they are alone. Sometimes they tend to be, however, also overly focused on themselves, which might lead them to loneliness.
