Dvitiya Tithi

and Goddess Bhagamalini

I am Bhagamalini.
I am the Goddess of Dvitiya tithi, second lunar day.
I stabilise the creative spark of Pratipad tithi.
I nourish and ground your ideas.
I give you the courage to manifest your dreams.
I bless you with confidence to share your inspiration with the world.
I inspire you to show yourself and be more available to the world.
As Goddess Kameshwari gives us inspiration on the first lunar day, so Goddess Bhagamalini allows this inspiration to fully blossom and spread its sweet fragrance in all directions.
Bhagamalini means “garlanded with luck”, “garlanded with fame” or “garlanded with the sun”. She brings auspiciousness and victory. As during Pratipad tithi Goddess Kameshwari along with the Sun gives us the light to recognise our desires and the truth about ourselves, as well as awakens a creative spark inside of us, so on Dvitiya tithi, second lunar day, Goddess Bhagamalini (along with the Moon) makes this spark grow, spread and shine. She becomes more grounded.

Manada or pride is the mood of the Goddess on second lunar day. She becomes more confident in Herself, as this lunar day is now governed by earth element and guna of rajas. Second lunar day in Shukla paksha is also known as Chandra darshan, as this is the very first day after the New Moon, when we can actually see it. On Shukla Pratipad Moon is usually still too close to the Sun to be visible on the sky – but on Shukla Dvitiya we will always see its light for the first time after it disappeared.

Dvitiya tithi is the time for you to shine your inner light and share it with the world. It is the time to make the first confident step towards fulfillment of your true desires and to connect with he bigger audience. Like Marianne Williamson (Dvitiya native, of course) has beautiful written:

“Our deepest fear is not that we are inadequate. Our deepest fear is that we are powerful beyond measure. It is our light, not our darkness that most frightens us. We ask ourselves, Who am I to be brilliant, gorgeous, talented, fabulous? Actually, who are you not to be? You are a child of God. You playing small does not serve the world. There is nothing enlightened about shrinking so that other people won’t feel insecure around you. We are all meant to shine, as children do. We were born to make manifest the glory of God that is within us. It’s not just in some of us; it’s in everyone. And as we let our own light shine, we unconsciously give other people permission to do the same. As we are liberated from our own fear, our presence automatically liberates others.”

Divine and shadow qualities

Second lunar day

Goddess Bhagamalini blesses us on her lunar day with the confidence to shine our light and manifest our dreams. But it can also sometimes make us too proud or too self-centered, which may result with egoism and sacrificing too much on the path towards our goals. Goddess Bhagamalini will try to inspire us on Dvitiya tithi to be more mindful in our actions.

Divine qualities

Dvitiya Tithi In-depth

Discover the secrets of Dvitiya tithi in this almost 3 hours long session with several study cases and detailed knowledge of the symbolism and secrets of this lunar day and its deities. Along with the access to course recording you will also receive a chapter from my ebook “Journey with the Moon”, dedicated to Bhagamalini, Lunar Goddess of Dvitiya tithi, along several charts for self-study.
1. Uncover unknown secrets of Dvitiya tithi
I have dedicated a big part of my life to research of the Vedic lunar phases and I can honestly say that you will most likely not find such detailed knowledge on this topic anywhere else. On this course you will learn not only about the superficial symbolism of Dvitiya tithi and its presiding Goddess, Bhagamalini, but also some of its deep secrets.

2. Understand the spiritual aspect
Spiritual approach to tithis or Vedic lunar phases is what makes my tithi classes unique and very different from others. I have spent a lot of time connecting with the Goddesses of the lunar phases, meditating with them and trying to learn from their wisdom. I have learnt that they teach us a lot about the evolution of our own consciousness. People who resonate with my classes are frequently already on spiritual path or are yoga or meditation practitioners.
3. Learn how to apply your knowledge
I believe that knowledge gains its real value only once we learn how to apply it. It is not enough just to understand, how the tithi functions in theory. You want to be able also to use this knowledge in your everyday life, as well as in your chart readings, too, don’t you? Each session of our classes completes with a detailed analysis of chosen study cases, as well as analyses the influence of each lunar day in our everyday life, activities that it supports and remedies that help us to heal it.

Fragment from "Journey with the Moon" ebook

“In some tantric scriptures Goddess Bhagamalini is considered a manifestation of Saraswati, shakti of Brahma, Goddess of sacred speech, art, learning and intuitive wisdom. Sometimes Her name, Bhagamalini, is translated as “the omniscient one”. Even the name of the yogini associated with Her is Buddhya-karshini (“the one attracting all intellect”) and the syllable of Sri Vidya mantra connected to Her is e, bij mantra of illusion. Her element is earth. Therefore She helps our inspiration, received from Goddess Kameshwari and Her creative spark, to assume its form, stability and identity in the world. She gives us the power to use our intellect wisely. This is why Dvitiya natives are naturally very curious and can often ask many questions. But as the Moon itself, karaka of the mind, is co-ruler of this lunar day, they also need to learn how to control the hunger of their mind and intellect and to seek their answers rather in meditation, in the depth of one’s own heart.”
